Fire design CPD hailed a great success

A CPD seminar focusing on fire design and smoke venting solutions hosted by FDS Consult UK and sister company Fire Design Solutions has been praised by delegates.

Presented to architects, M&E consultants, developers and contractors at the Building Centre in London on 18th September, the seminar shared an overview of fire engineering principles and smoke venting for projects within the residential, commercial and mixed use sectors.

Hosted by three industry practitioners with more than 35 years’ combined fire engineering experience, various case studies were used to illustrate smoke venting and sprinkler system solutions, whilst providing an overview of fire engineering, achieving building regulations compliancy and value engineered solutions.

Strong feedback from RRO (Regulatory Reform Order) presentations in the past allowed for this to once again be a pivotal part of the presentation, allowing the delegates to be guided through fire risk assessment and management strategy.
Attendee feedback praised the topics covered, which included useful background thinking behind the building regulations, fire mitigation factors to be considered during the design stage and the information regarding BS9991 since its recent change.

Michel Wizenberg, Managing Director at FDS Consult UK, said: “We were delighted to once again share our fire engineering experience with a number of familiar faces as well as new industry practitioners. CPD seminars are a great way of discussing key industry topics, and we look forward to hosting further events and webinars over the coming months.”

Michel was joined by fellow speakers and colleagues Jigar Pandya, Senior Fire Engineer, and Jim Golt, Senior Associate Fire Engineer who has more than two decades within the London Fire Brigade to his credit.
