We would like to welcome Leighton McGrath to the FDS Consult UK team. Leighton joins us as a Senior Fire Engineer. We asked Leighton a few questions regarding his appointment:
• What is your professional background?
I started my fire experience 12 years ago providing fire risk assessments and evacuation planning for hospitals such as the Royal Marsden and the Royal Free. I then worked in New Zealand furthering my career as a fire engineer, working on large projects in all sectors (new build and alteration works). During this time, projects included using CFD and zone modelling and applying heat transfer and smoke storage hand calculations to engineering problems. During my time in New Zealand, I successfully completed my masters in Fire Engineering at The University of Canterbury in 2019.
• What attracted you to FDS Consult UK and to the role?
The relaxed working environment and good company culture appealed to me. I also was impressed by the team focussed approach.
• What has been your experience so far?
Despite having only recently joined, the experience so far has been good. I’m getting into the flow of work and now involved on several ongoing projects. There is lots to learn, but I have received great support from fellow colleagues.
