FDS Consult UK hosted a Continuous Professional Development (CPD) Seminar at the Building Centre in central London at the beginning of September.
The event was very well attended with architects, contractors and consultants looking to find out more on fire safety design in the Residential, Hotel and Student Accommodation sectors.
The principles of fire engineering were covered enhancing the fact that the value of good fire safety design is not only about protecting life, minimising damage, and cost savings, but also in maximising space and creating better design flexibility.
Jim Golt, a Senior Associate Fire Engineer at FDS Consult UK spoke on the importance of the Regulatory Reform Order (RRO) which was very well received. He also spoke on legislative changes, and fire design in relation to Fire Brigade standards and practices.
As a delegate commented “The presentations showed extremely interesting solutions in fire design and how to overcome the sometimes rigid views taken by the authorities using the Approved Document B.”
Michel Wizenberg, Managing Director at FDS Consult UK said “The CPD event was all about telling designers how a creative fire engineered approach can make residential buildings safer whilst still achieving architectural design ambitions. We really got people’s attention when showing them how to create more floor space without sacrificing the high standards of building or fire safety.”
FDS Consult UK will be presenting further CPD events in 2013, please contact 01322 387411 for more information and to register.
